Thinking back to my first handgun brings a mix of nostalgia and smiles. I’d love to hear about yours! Do you still have it? How do you feel about it now? Feel free to share any stories or photos!

S&W 617 “no dash,” 6” barrel, purchased new in 1991.

Had to sell it for tuition money, in 1993… 💔

My first was a Taurus PT92 I bought used in college. I did not know much at the time, just wanted something affordable. Thing was surprisingly reliable, and I still have it in the safe. It is beat up, but I will never sell it.

Walther P38. Always stovepiped the second or third round. Exchanged it for a Ruger Blackhawk .357 in stainless.

H&R 999 "Sportsman" .22 rimfire, my wife gifted it to me in 1978- I've shot more grouse with it than all of my shotguns combined. It's still my most constant companion around the farm..
I got her a nice 1894 Winchester "trapper" model in 30 WCF, she likewise still has it. While not a handgun, it is a handy gun...

My first pistol was a Ruger .22 auto with a red insignia. I sure wish I had that pistol today, but like a young man who had very little money, traded it for a rifle that I had to have back in the '60's. I went through many different pistols over the years and today only have a few handguns, but one of them is a Ruger .22 auto. Every time I pick that pistol up I think back to that original model.....
