Future of compact 9mms

With so many new compact 9mm models hitting the market lately, have manufacturers truly nailed this category or is there still room for meaningful advancements?

They’ve refined a lot, but true innovation? I am still waiting on lighter and softer-shooting without compromises

I had one, the recoil was too much. Not confident in the reliability either. I switched to a .380 and I like it much better. But I do have arthritis in my right hand.
