At what point did your barrel fail to meet your accuracy standards? I’d love to know how those standards varied between precision shooting and more casual shooting sessions.

My standards definitely shift around a bit, depending on what I'm actually doing. If I'm trying to be precise, I pick up on even tiny changes pretty quickly. But for just casual shooting, I tend to let things slide for a lot longer.

That makes sense, precision really exposes things casual shooting can easily hide or overlook.

Umm... Trivia (?).. Many years ago.. The only known ..barrell.. issue I ever had was with an early model Remington 700 BDL (?) 30-06 that I put so much ammunition of all kinds through that it started popping heads off of cases regardless if the case was new, or how lightly or well used the case was.. I had 1 thread cut off the barrel, reinstalled, rechambered and it was good for a couple more years of heavy use before it started doing it again.. It got traded off for something else.. I don't recall what now..

That’s a lot of rounds through a 30-06, eventually the throat just gives up no matter what you do.
