As I grew up, ranching, hunting, guiding, living in the bush I made a lot of ...trail meals, homemade MRE type meals, Just Add Water campfire meal dry mixes and like products.. At a time I had a good size notebook of recipes and the like for these kind of products.. I always had to cook for any ...adventure... that happened.. I had a big brother that couldn't make a PBJ sandwich, or cup of coffee for himself, but complained about everything... I would say something like ...your too damned big to be compaining... and, well the fight was on.. This all kinda-sorta ties in with the ....homemade field kitchen... we always kept available for most any outing..

Ideas, recipes, experience, hints tip to share ??

Seems like you were the default camp cook, just like a lot of us. I always kept it simple with rice, instant potatoes, pasta, dehydrated meat, and a heavy hand with the seasoning. Pre-bagging everything at home made cooking at camp super easy. The biggest lessons I learned were to season more than you think you need and to always pack some kind of fat. It really makes a difference when you're worn out and starving.
