Gun cleaning agents

What's the best lube and solvent for general maintenance and cleaning? Looking to get some ideas here.

I learned from an old retired Federal Cartridge chemist a mix of 1 part Dexron ATF, 1 part K1 kerosene (a modified ..Eds Red formula) is a good cleaning, lube agent.. Once your firearm is clean, then use much less of you favorite, (likely much more expensive) product..

I simply clean with Hoppes then give the gun and inside that barrel a quick wipe with WD-40's Specialist Corrosion Inhibitor. I haven't seen rust in any way shape or form since I started using this product several years ago.

A lot of people seem to overlook those classic tricks because they aren’t very eye-catching. But from my experience, they’re the ones that really get results!
