I've been thinking about building my first AR-15 for a while now, and I've finally started looking at parts. Feels overwhelming, honestly. There are so many options out there! I've had good luck finding some decent deals if I poke around a bit, but I still feel like I'm trying to decipher a whole new language when it comes to what's actually worth buying.
I'm planning for a simple rifle build to start. Leaning towards 5.56 since that's what I hear most people recommend, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone thinks there's a better route for a newbie like me. Maybe .300 Blackout or something?
I'd love to hear about any brands you guys would steer clear of. Are there parts that are just junk? Also, what about those pesky hidden costs? I can imagine there's more to it than just the parts, right? Every time I think I've got it figured out, I remember the little things, like tools or maybe even that fancy trigger I read about.
And honestly, is it worth building my own, or should I just buy one that's already put together? I'd rather not waste my time or money making rookie mistakes.
