Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for a good folding knife for both everyday use and outdoor adventures. What's your go-to knife and what features do you love about it? Share your recommendations and any pics if you have them!
Since I was a teen in all my years hunting, guiding, ranching I carried an Old Timer, Uncle Henry folding knife.. And in my hunting pack I carried a small camp hatchet like in the links.. These 2 tools did more field dressing, final butchering, camp chores than you can imagine.. All this in 2 different countries..
My 5 cents of experience..
Outdoor Edge folding, boning and fillet knife. Really handy and always sharp.
The replacement blades are kinda spendy but the edge lasts quite a w. If you're really ambitious you can resharpen the blades
Hard to go wrong with a Made in USA Buck or Gerber!
Both brands also make products in Asia. I've had some Asian knives that appeared to be fine products, and I've had some that -ahem- weren't the greatest.
If a knife won't hold an edge under some moderate use… I'm not hanging onto it. I want my knife sharp, when I need it.
With apologies to Col. Towsend Whelen,
"Only sharp knives are interesting."
