I once had a game warden pull up while I was setting up my tree stand. He was super friendly and gave me some great tips about the area. Anyone else have good or funny experiences with wardens?

Funny trivia story.... Many years ago, my best friend in highschool didn't live as well as many around.. One time he was out with his dad getting a load of firewood and encountered the local warden.. Warden and friends dad, both WW2 vets talked a bit and the warden said ....you better get this fresh firewood home, it is still bleeding.....:cool:

I've been an avid angler/hunter/camper/paddler/boater all of my 55 years.

I buy a license. I read the regulation book. I do my best to abide by the regulation book.

I've yet to have a negative experience while being checked in the field, in multiple states.

But… "I never know how to talk to the Game Warden!" HERE'S an novel idea- How about treating them respectfully, and telling the truth? 💡 They often already know the answer to the questions they ask. They just want to know if you realize what you're doing, and whether you knew what you were doing was (or was not) legal, etc.

Hating the Game Warden is like anational past time for some folks, including some of my family members. Ironically, I never saw those members of my family breaking any fish and game laws… yet they hated the Game Warden. What gives?

The Game Wardens are the only reason we have any fish/game left. Yes, the various clubs and organizations do a great job as well… but the poachers are all too happy to abuse the resource that the clubs and organizations have conserved/improved, etc.

Finally, if you DO have a crappy experience with a Game Warden who's in a bad mood or being a dink, don't make it the end of the world. Game Wardens have crummy days too, just like you or I. They deal with poachers daily, for their entire career… think that might wear on you, too?
